Hoge Wild: Fishing in Alaska

Hoge Wild: Fishing in Alaska

2 minutes

Lucas Hoge, American singer-songwriter and the host of Hoge Wild on Sportsman Channel, has a two-part fishing adventure in Alaska airing on July 18th and 25th. You won't want to miss it.

The episodes follow Lucas and his friends on the trip of a lifetime to Alaska aboard the Surf Bird fishing vessel. Geared head to toe in Mustang Survival gear, they deep drop for Halibut and Rockfish and fly fish in the intercoastal channels of the Sitka Sound. The episodes capture the adventures, and amazing wildlife Alaska has to offer.

We caught up with Lucas to ask a few questions about his career and the trip.

How did your passion for the outdoors develop?

I've always been passionate about the outdoors. I grew up in a small Nebraska town of 44 people, so being out in the woods and enjoying nature and all it offers came pretty naturally to me.

What was the most unexpected or surprising part of your Alaska Trip?

The most surprising thing was getting to watch a pod of whales breaching and bubble feeding. I've never witnessed anything like that before.

What advice would you offer someone planning a fishing trip to Alaska?

I would have to say plan and then over plan. Alaska has so much to offer, and you are going to want to do it all. Make a plan, stick to it, and take in every second you can. It truly is still the most untapped area of the US.

How do you balance your career as a singer and TV host?

The great thing about my TV series is that I tie in my adventure with concerts, so I get to do both at the same time, most of the time.
